1. Strengthen Immune System :
Garlic being a good source of Vitamin C and Vitamin B6 strengthens the immune system as well as helps to fight chest infections, coughs and congestion. In the winter months garlic is a great food to boost your immune system and ward off colds and flu. Garlic is also known to have anti-inflammatory property. Thus it can help the body fight against allergies.

2. Treat Skin Infections :
The chemical ajoene found in garlic helps in treating fungal skin infections like ringworm and athlete’s foot.

3. Reduce Blood Pressure :
Garlic helps to regulate the body\'s blood pressure. So whether you have problems with low or high blood pressure, garlic can help equalize it. Allicin and polysulphides present in garlic help in controlling blood pressure.

4. Protects Heart :
Garlic protects our heart against various cardiovascular problems like heart attacks and atherosclerosis. Garlic prevents arteries from losing their elasticity and also protects the heart from the damaging effects of free oxygen radicals. The sulphur-containing compounds of garlic also prevent blood vessels from becoming blocked and slow the development of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). The anti-clotting properties of ajoene help prevent clots from forming inside the blood vessels.

5. Reduce Cholesterol :
Garlic has the ability to moderately lower our blood triglycerides and total cholesterol and reduce arterial plaque formation.

6. Diabetes :
Garlic increases insulin release and regulates blood sugar levels in diabetics.

7. Cancer Prevention :
Garlic can aid in the prevention of multiple types of cancer. Bladder cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and stomach cancer have all been shown to have their tumors reduced when treated with garlic.

8. Improve Iron Metabolism :
Ferroportin is a protein which helps in iron absorption and release. Diallyl sulphides in garlic increase production of ferroportin and help improve iron metabolism.

9. Toothaches :
Keeping some crushed garlic clove directly on the affected tooth can help relieve toothaches due to its antibacterial and analgesic properties.

10. Reduce Weight :
Many researchers believe that obesity is a state of long-term low-grade inflammation. According to recent research, garlic may help to regulate the formation of fat cells in our body. This may help prevent weight gain.
